Mission
IFM and its member companies embrace one goal: to protect and promote the health of infants and children.
IFM member companies have been accomplishing their mission through on-going scientific research and creation of products uniquely suited to the nutritional needs of infants and young children, including those with special dietary requirements due to health challenges.
Representing the Infant Food Manufacturing Industry
Founded on February 23, 1984 in Paris, France, IFM includes members of both national and international companies in ten countries with operations in the USA, Europe and Asia. This trade association represents companies that manufacture and market infant foods in all parts of the world by:
- Encouraging the continued use of valid science in the research, development and regulatory processes
- Promoting sound legislation and science-based regulation for the infant food industry at the national, regional or international level
- Representing the industry with such United Nations agencies as the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), their Codex Alimentarius Commission and UNICEF, as well as governments, professional associations, and women’s and consumers groups in all matters relating to infant foods
- Promoting high ethical standards for the infant food industry
- Providing information and education to health workers so they can instruct mothers on safe and adequate nutrition for infants and young children.
