News Alert Enterobacter sakazakii is a widespread bacteria commonly found in in the environment including homes, hospitals and manufacturing facilities. Although infant formula is an intrinsically safe product, and instances of infections through powdered infant formulas are very uncommon, IFM takes the issue of E. sakazakii very seriously. As very young infants with compromised health status are most at risk, manufacturers urge mothers and health care workers to follow their instructions when handling, storing and preparing formula.
